Maths Rockstar Day We will be holding a Maths Rockstars Day on Thursday 2nd May and inviting all our pupils and staff to dress as rockstars for the day while we have some maths fun.  Please see the letter below for details and the video explaining our TTRockstars programme for pupils from Y2 to Y6.  

We had such a fabulous day at the Locomotion museum. We learnt all about George Stephenson’s life and his inventions. We saw his Locomotion and acted out the first steam train journey from Shildon to Stockton. We also looked inside a train engine.

PE Timetable from April until May half term   

We had a lovely day on Wednesday celebrating St Cuthbert’s Day. We went to church and found out some interesting facts about St Cuthbert. On the afternoon, we enjoyed eating ice cream with our friends.

We had lots of fun in Year 1 on Friday. We came to school dressed in bright colours to raise money for comic relief. We spent time talking about our Catholic Social Teaching animals and focused on Shristi the Sun Bear. Shristi teaches us all about solidarity. We have had a great day celebrating World Book Day today. We have listened to lots of different stories and made our very own paper plate characters.

In Year 1, we have been reading Super Worm by Julia Donaldson. This week, we will be writing our own non-chronological report all about worms. Spring Term 2024

We had a great last week at school. We played games and danced at our Christmas party, had a lovely Christmas dinner, met Santa, watched a show and watched a movie in our pyjamas, with a hot chocolate. We hope you all have a lovely Christmas Year 1.  

We had lots of fun today. We threw snowballs, zig-zagged in and out of Santa hats, used a selfie frame and matched pairs. The best part was being sprayed by the snow machine.

This week in Lego Club we were Space Rangers and we are on a super secret mission to build a new spaceship.

We have had a great afternoon visiting Church Street and eating ice cream. We had a sketch map of Church Street and mapped out the things that we could see. We will then be comparing this to the 1950s high street.

We are having lots of fun in gymnastics this half term. We have been learning how to do forward rolls, teddy bear rolls, back support and balances. We are remembering to keep our toes pointed and to hold our positions. Well done Year 1 you have been trying really hard.

Year 1 had lots of fun today working with Sophie. We joined in with lots of party dances and used the parachute too.

In Year 1, we have been learning all about the human body. We have been exploring our five different senses. We had a carousel of activities, each one using a different sense. We identified the flavour of crisps by smelling them, felt objects in a feely bag, listened to sound through the computer, used magnifying glasses to look at objects …
