We took part in a 5-A-Side competition with other schools in Seaham last week. We played in the group stages on Wednesday and won enough points to get into the finals on Friday. After learning about the origins of the traditional curry and food hygiene in DT, year 6 helped to prepare a vegetable korma. The children took responsibility to ensure all surfaces were cleaned before and after use and there was regular hand washing throughout- especially after cutting onions. In our Judaism topic this week we were learning about the Jewish Festival of Sukkot. During Sukkot, Jewish people remember when God freed them from slavery in Egypt. We are very proud of our girls football team who performed very well on Wednesday in the Bishop Cup tournament.  

At the end of Mass on Monday our Year 6 Mini-Vinnies invited families and parishioners to join us on Tuesday 18th October to pray the Rosary for the ACN International – “A million children pray the Rosary” campaign where the focus of our prayers go towards peace and unity in the world.

Year 5 and Year 6 enjoyed going to Mass on Monday where Father Marc gave us the mission going forward to show kindness to one another. Visiting church would not be complete without a photograph with Father Marc.

Well done to our latest stars of the week. Certificates were achieved for lots of things this week including excellent work, good attitudes and showing Catholic values. Keep up the good work everyone.

Both our A Team and our B Team were played last night in a league match against Ryhope Junior School. The A Team played first. In our History topic, we have been learning about toys from the past. We brought our favourite toy in from home and talked about it. We have also looked at toys from the past and looked closely at the toy’s material to decide whether we think it is a modern or an old toy.
