Super Sandwiches A big well done to Year 2 for their chopping, grating, spreading and sprinkling skills this afternoon. We made a DELIcious range of sandwiches from wraps to pitta pockets to hearty doorstops. We hope families enjoy their taste testing tonight!

Maths Rockstar Day We will be holding a Maths Rockstars Day on Thursday 2nd May and inviting all our pupils and staff to dress as rockstars for the day while we have some maths fun.  Please see the letter below for details and the video explaining our TTRockstars programme for pupils from Y2 to Y6.  

We had such a fabulous day at the Locomotion museum. We learnt all about George Stephenson’s life and his inventions. We saw his Locomotion and acted out the first steam train journey from Shildon to Stockton. We also looked inside a train engine.

On Friday, Year 6 were treated to a visit from local author, Adam Bushnell. We had a go at describing a rainforest and using some ambitious vocabulary. Adam brought his pet tortoise, Jet, and we used him to help us make descriptions of different animals. We wrote clues about the animals and read them out having a go at guessing …

This afternoon, Year 5 have been doing a scientific experiment to find out which materials made good thermal insulators. We tried three different materials and checked the temperature of the water after 3, 6 and 9 minutes. We really enjoyed learning how to read the thermometers and predicting which material would keep the water the warmest.

We had a lovely day on Wednesday celebrating St Cuthbert’s Day. We went to church and found out some interesting facts about St Cuthbert. On the afternoon, we enjoyed eating ice cream with our friends.

Reception class have been learning all about night and day. We have now moved owe have been learning all about shadows. This morning, we went to the big yard and we drew around our friend’s shadow. Wow! What a day for Lyra (y4) and Ava (y6). After qualifying back in October for County Finals, the girls both went on Friday to represent the Easington District in cross country. On Thursday, children from years 4 and 6 headed off to East Durham College to participate in a basketball skills session and a competition.
