Treat Time Thursday

I hope you all enjoyed the lovely sunshine. Let’s hope we have lovely sunshine today because we are thinking about

picnics. If the weather isn’t very good you could always have a picnic inside. I would like you to think about what sort of things you would like for a picnic. You can use the sheet or draw a picture of the food you would like. Your maths challenges are to do some shopping. You might want to set up your own shop. You also need to work out how to share food out equally.

Picnics are fun so I would like you to think of how you could make your picnic active. There is a lovely caterpillar dance you could join in with – the link is https://imoves.com/home-learning/1540. What other fun games and activities could you think of to make your picnic fun? I’m really looking forward to hearing all about your picnics.

Have fun xx

Thursday’s tasks

Phonics

Watch YouTube for your daily phonics work. Today the sounds are:

Set 1 – a
 Set 2 – air
 Set 3 – ea

We are talking about picnics today. I saw this activity and thought some of you might like to do this as we tend to take photographs when we go out. Ask your grown up to give you a sound – it might be an initial sound eg a, m etc or a sound you are learning and you need to go inside or outside and find an object beginning with that sound or with that sound in for you to take a picture with your camera. (I’ve included an outline if you want to use it.”

Literacy Today we are thinking about Picnics. I want you to think about what you would like if you could plan your perfect picnic. You can use the sheet to write your ideas on or draw it on some paper and label it if you can.
Maths Go to Whiterose maths Summer Term Week 3 Day 4 – (w/c 4th May). Today we are going to think about going on a picnic.

I have set some extra challenges. I’ve included a price list from my shop at Caterpillar Corner. Can you work out how much an apple and a cake would cost? Can you work out how much 2 bananas would cost? If you went to the shop with 5p and bought some strawberries for 1p, how much would you have left? You might want to set up your own shop and make a price list.

You could draw some caterpillars or make them out of playdough and have some food for them to eat or pretend food eg buttons or counters. Your grown up could set you challenges. Can you share 10 pieces of food between 2 caterpillars? can you share 9 pieces of food between 3 caterpillars? I’ve included a picture of this activity to give you a better idea.

I have also included a sheet with some problems on.

Other areas of learning Let’s get active – can you think of some games for your picnic? You might want to draw some caterpillars and butterflies and hide them around your house and garden for your family to find. You might want to think of challenges to set your family – eg who can balance like a caterpillar does on a leaf? Who can hide like lots of caterpillars were doing when you went on your caterpillar hunts? I look forward to seeing some of your ideas.
