Wondering Wednesday

I hope you all enjoyed eating your fruit kebabs, some of them looked delicious. Today we are continuing to look at fruit. You have ben asked to look at the fruit in your house and I have set some number challenges based on fruit. The Hungry Caterpillar ate lots of fruit so I would like you to design a healthy menu for your caterpillar to put into his packed lunch box..
It is wondering Wednesday so we are going to find out what happens when a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. There are some fabulous videos to watch. If you go onto YouTube you can find lots of interesting ones. I would like you to show me how it happens by either completing the sheet, drawing pictures or making models.
Have fun xxx

Wednesday’s tasks

Phonics

Watch YouTube for your daily phonics work. Today the sounds are:

Set 1 – m
 Set 2 – or
 Set 3 – ear

Choose one of your favourite phonics games e.g. buried treasure.

Literacy Today you are being encouraged to look in our fruit bowls. Some of the things the caterpillar ate were very healthy but some things were not as healthy. I would like you to make a healthy menu for the caterpillar.

Maths Go to Whiterose maths Summer Term Week 3 Day 3 – (w/c 4th May). Today we are going to look in our fruit bowls if you don’t have one you can look and see if you have any fruit in your house at the minute. Don’t worry if you haven’t you can use the fruits that the caterpillar ate in the book. There are lots of ideas of counting challenges on Whiterose.

Here are some extra challenges. I’ve included a number games sheet where you roll a dice twice combine the numbers, find the answer on the sheet and colour it in. If you don’t have a printer you could still play a game where you roll a dice and pick up eg grapes, pieces of cereal, buttons etc and then count the total and see who has the most.

How many different ways can you make 7? – I’ve included a sheet or just experiment using grapes etc

I’ve also included an addition and subtraction sheet again if you haven’t got a printer you can use it practically eg Give the children 6 pieces of fruit take 3 away how many are left?

Other areas of learning

We are looking at how caterpillars turn into butterflies. If you google how caterpillars turn into butterflies you can find lots of videos to watch. I watched YouTube  – How A Caterpillar Becomes A Butterfly | The Dodo.

I’ve included a sheet for you to complete to see if you can remember how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. If you haven’t got a printer you could make models with playdough to show the different stages or draw pictures.
