Today, we created an algorithm (a precise set of instructions or rules to achieve an outcome or solve a problem) to instruct a pretend robot (Mrs Kharko) to make a jam sandwich. Some of us had some very funny looking jam sandwiches. We then discussed what happens if the instructions aren’t precise enough.  

Year 1 completed lots of subtraction challenges today, using number lines, part-whole models and tens frames. They really enjoyed working together to complete the challenges.

Year 5 have enjoyed problem solving using multiplicative reasoning. It sounds really complicated but it means using our understanding of multiplication to solve real life problems.

This week our work was based on The Hungry Caterpillar. We enjoyed watching a video to remind us of the story. We then made our own hungry caterpillars by making a green paper chain with a red head.

During Art, we made peg dolls to add to our forest setting. We explored fabrics such as satin, cotton, hessian and fur and then we chose the most appropriate fabric for our Little Red Riding Hood peg doll.

All year groups enjoyed their Christmas dinner last week. They had turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings. As always, Jan and the rest of the kitchen staff pulled out all the stops to serve up a fantastic festive feast.

Years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed their party on Friday afternoon. They played lots of party games, did some classic party dances and shared some snacks together. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  

We are so proud of Reception class and the way they have acted out their Nativity Play. They were so enthusiastic in their speaking, acting and especially their singing. They certainly made lots of people smile. Well done Reception Class.  

Today was party day. We had lots of fun playing games and dancing with our friends .

The children in Year 1 had a great afternoon dancing and playing games at their Christmas party.

Year 3 had a lovely time at their party. We played games, danced and had a well deserved snack. We also enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch on Thursday made by our wonderful kitchen staff.

Last week, Key Stage 2 were visited by local author and artist Kylie Dixon. The children listened to a book reading of Kylie’s new book and were shown how to draw some of the characters that appear in the story. Last week, Year 4 visited the Sunderland Empire theatre to see The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. They have been reading the book and exploring The Chronicles of Narnia in their English lessons this term. The performance was amazing and everyone enjoyed the experience.

Year 6 enjoyed taking part in Christmas Jumper Day and having their picture taken with their buddies around our beautiful tree.
