In our first art club session we have made our own firework pictures.

In Year 1, we have been reading The Gingerbread Man. Yesterday the children were shown footage of the Gingerbread Man in our classroom with his friends. We really want to find him, so we are making our very own missing posters.

A super start to our club on Monday. We practised different shapes and how to jump safely. Well done to all the children who came.

Take a look at the shoebox trenches year 6 made over half term.

Our local community garden donated some pumpkins Bouncy Castle to us and we had great fun designing and making a lanterns with them. We tried to pull a face just like the lanterns we had created.

Today some of our children attended the Hi-5 netball festival. There were seven schools in total and the girls showed excellent communication and team-work on their way to a third place finish overall. Well done girls!

The Year 1 children had a visit from the firefighters on Tuesday to learn about fire safety. The children had a look around their fire engine and all had a turn at using their hose.

Both of our teams were playing in a league fixture tonight against Ryhope Juniors. The A-Team took an early lead but Ryhope quickly levelled the score and scored another to make the score 2-1 to them. In the second half, we didn’t give up and kept at them. We have been learning the seven continents in Year 2 and have enjoyed learning a song to help us to remember them. In small groups, we have made messy maps to show our continents.  

For some of our younger children, it has been such a long time since they have visited church. Our children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a visit to our church on Monday morning. Year 6 enjoyed writing some 12 word stories based on the animation, Alma. To help create the spooky atmosphere we used torches, a darkened room and thought about how we would read the story aloud.  

COP26 Since returning to school in September, our year six children have been looking at the effects of global warming. We took part in a virtual conference with other schools both in the UK and overseas. As part of this, our children (and staff) all made a pledge to show what they are willing to do combat climate change.

The children in Year 1 had a special book delivery. They loved spending time reading the new books in our classroom.

Today, we celebrated World Mental Health Day. The children had the opportunity to take part in many activities to raise awareness of Mental Health and help promote good Mental Health in themselves and others.         As part of letter ‘r’ day the children in Reception class have been following a recipe to make leaf soup. The worked in pairs and went onto the field to find their ingredients. Some of them were experimenting to make the perfect porridge recipe for the bear. They had lots of fun.

Doing things you enjoy is very good for your mental health  

We enjoyed spending some time with our buddies on mental health awareness day. Seeing our buddies makes us happy. We took part in an outdoor scavenger hunt.

Our B Team played their first tournament of the season tonight. They were absolutely fantastic! We had three matches to play and were on amazing form. The first game was played against Westlea and our boys won. Dominic scored a cracking goal from outside the box!
