Monday 8th June

Hello year 6 another week of home learning. Remember you are all doing amazing, I am so proud of you all and your attitude towards learning. Some of the work you have produced at home has been some of the best this year, so well done!

For Maths, I would like you to practice finding the rule using the BBC Bitesize link. This is the start to learning about algebra, getting you thinking logically. You demonstrated you were quite good at following algorithms in computing lessons, it’s a similar idea. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zm6296f
Complete activity 1 and 2. Remember you do not need to print the sheets, you can write the calculations out.

For English we are revising apostrophes. We covered this just before lockdown in booster sessions but it is still an area not everyone is consistent with. Watch the videos, complete the activities and give activity 2, showing apostrophes for possession a try. Remember to form your apostrophes correctly if you are writing these activities by hand. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zrprkxs

Then I would like you to complete one reading plus comprehension task, one vocabulary task and one writing task. Within this writing task I would like to see you using your apostrophes. Remember, we would not use apostrophes for contractions in a formal piece of writing so select your genre carefully.

Now this week marks the start of our St.Cuthbert’s sports day from home. Mrs Partlett and Mr Boyle would like you to complete the daily activities, wearing your house group colour. Please send a photograph or video in of your completing these tasks. Good Luck … Oswald, don’t let me down! Goooooooooooooo St. Cuthbert’s!!!!

Finally, our topic work this week is going to be exploring lockdown further.
I would like you to take some time looking at the picture attached and think of the question, “How important is it to have a routine?”
I’d like you to complete the question and answer sheet to get your views on your home learning experience. Then think about your own daily routine, complete the plan of how your day learning from home works and what you do when you are not learning. Finally compare your before lockdown timetable to your during lockdown timetable. Have they changed much?

I really look forward to reading about your experiences. I have attached some weekly news articles for you to read at your own leisure. There are some interesting topics covered.

Have a good day. Stay safe
