Monday 4th May

Good morning everyone, I hope that you all have had a lovely weekend with your families. This week our activities are all going to be based around VE Day celebrations and I hope on Friday you can have a lovely celebration in your own home, with your family. We will work towards panning a little family VE Day afternoon tea party this week as part of our tasks.

We will be doing a little bit of English and History today. Can you find out what VE Day is? Why is it important to remember? Record what you find out. The Royal British Legion website might help you find out more. https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/teaching-remembrance

I have also attached a powerpoint in the google classroom which might help you. It also has a little quiz at the end for you to enjoy. If you can’t access the google classroom, please contact mr Graham and he will get this sorted for you. B.graham@stcuthbertsprimary.com

In maths today we will be using White Rose Summer week 3 , Lesson 1 and we will be recapping fact families addition and subtraction facts to 20. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ I would like you to watch the video and then answer the questions from the activity sheet.

Here is an extract from Durham Chronicle & Seaham Weekly News, 11 May 1945

In Seaham: ‘Ships in port were hung with bunting, flags flew high from the pulley wheels of Seaham, Dawdon, and Vane Tempest Collieries. Shop fronts and houses
were profusely decorated. Church street… was a blaze of colour.’

I have attached a union jack template as well as some bunting in the google classroom. Perhaps you and your family could colour or paint these to decorate your house or garden on Friday to celebrate.

Much Love
