Monday 1st June

Monday 1st June

Good morning year 3. I hope you’ve all had a lovely week. Let me know what you have been up to.

This week we are continuing with alternative lessons for maths as we have covered fractions. However, if you want to revise fractions, you can go to BBC Bitesize and follow the instructions.

Today we are adding two 3-digit numbers – crossing 10 or 100.

The video link you need is https://vimeo.com/420240608

Watch the video and complete the attached orange sheet.

As always I have put an alternative turquoise sheet and link if you find the orange tricky. If you need to do the turquoise activity you need to go onto White Rose home learning year 2. Lesson 1 is The 10 times-table. Watch the video and complete the activity.

If you want to be challenged further, you might want to try Year 4 White Rose home learning. Lesson 1 is to add 2 or more fractions.

Today for English I would like you to do work related to your spellings. This weeks spellings are:

press               suppress

express             compress

impress             prevent

invent               venture

adventure           eventful

Find out what each word means using a dictionary. Then write a sentence for each. I have also added a wordsearch.

You can also go on Reading Plus and spend some time during the day to read your own reading book.

Before half term we were finding out about plants in science. We are going to continue with this, this week.

Today we are going to identify and describe the functions of flowering plants. Look at the slides explaining that food is a store of energy; animals need to eat other plants and animals for energy, but plants produce their own food. You will be learning about how leaves make food and how the process fits into the life cycle of flowering plants.

Once you have looked at the slides, complete the attached worksheet.
