Monday 18th May

Another week of learning from home, you are all doing brilliantly. I am very proud!

Today for maths I would like you to complete the BBC Bitesize task multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000. If you think you would like more practice after completing this you can go onto maths whizz (year 5, mental strategies for multiplication and division, level D).

For English today I would like you to complete Reading Plus for 30 minutes and the other part of your English task is part of the R.E task making a poster. Remember to make a poster it must include:

  • Short, snappy sentences/phrases
  • Eye catching layout
  • A catchy slogan (title)
  • The purpose of the poster (what information do you want to get across to your audience)
  • Pictures or photographs
  • A reminder of the message you would like to get across.

The R.E task is starting to look at your new topic of anointing of the sick.

I would like you to read the story of ‘A children’s hospice’ and think about the care a hospice can offer to sick people and their families. Think about the people who work in hospices. What qualities do you think are needed to look after someone who is sick?  What beliefs and values would be important?

Design a wanted poster for staff at a hospice including the qualities, beliefs and values needed for the job.

Deacon Peter volunteers at the local Hospice so if you have any further questions I am happy to pass on your questions to him.

Finally, I have received some lovely Rights Respecting work and I would you all to look at this week’s article – article 28, a right to education and complete an activity.

Have a good day year 6, remember to do some exercise, get some fresh air and most importantly… be kind and helpful around the house!
