Super Sandwiches A big well done to Year 2 for their chopping, grating, spreading and sprinkling skills this afternoon. We made a DELIcious range of sandwiches from wraps to pitta pockets to hearty doorstops. We hope families enjoy their taste testing tonight!

We have enjoyed making a range of sculptures in Year 2 and learning about different artists. We thought about the work of Barbara Hepworth and how the spaces in her work encourage us to look through at the space behind and around. Maths Rockstar Day We will be holding a Maths Rockstars Day on Thursday 2nd May and inviting all our pupils and staff to dress as rockstars for the day while we have some maths fun.  Please see the letter below for details and the video explaining our TTRockstars programme for pupils from Y2 to Y6.  

PE Timetable from April until May half term   

This week we had a visit from author Adam Bushnell. We’ve been learning about Meerkats in class and with Adam we found out some interesting facts. Then we wrote our own storyboard about a meerkat. We had lots of fun and can’t wait to see Adam again.

Year 2 had a lovely day celebrating St Cuthbert’s Day. We went to church, then we found out some facts about St Cuthbert and on the afternoon we all enjoyed an ice cream.

In Year 2 we have been looking at micro habitats for our science topic . We went over to our allotment to have a look under logs and flowers to see what we could find.

It’s been all fun and games in Year 2 today. We came to school dressed in bright colours and spent the day finding out about how this year, the event is focusing on supporting those in need during the current living crisis. We have had a fun day in Year 2 celebrating World Book Day. We all came dressed as one of our favourite book characters, taking part in a live lesson, creating our own paper plates with our favourite characters, reading our books and sharing them with our friends.

This morning we have been practicing how to use the keyboard on the chrome books.

Spring Term 2024

Today we have had a very exciting day. This morning we went over to Seaham Town Hall to watch a Christmas performance called Merry Tinsel Toes. Then on the afternoon we had our Christmas party. We danced, played games and even managed to time for some party food.

We had a lovely surprise today when Santa came to visit us. We told Santa what we would like for Christmas and even sang him a song. He was very impressed. He even told us we are all on the good list.

A huge thank you to Jan our cook for a wonderful Christmas lunch. It was delicious!

Today Year 2 enjoyed a “dance with me” session with Sophie from the Sports Partnership. We had fun learning new dance moves using the glow sticks and singing along.
