Y6 Holy Communions

We are so proud of the children in Y6 who received their first Holy Communion on Saturday surrounded by friends, staff and family. They celebrated receiving their sacrament in school on Monday with their friends. Our children receiving their first Holy Communion. In Tuesday’s club, we explored LINE. How can we create different lines? Thin or thick? Straight or wavy or spiky? Solid or dotted or dashed?  We enjoyed creating these autumnal zentangles with sharpies then filling them with watercolour to make them look more 3D.

Hi-5 Netball

Today some of our children attended the Hi-5 netball festival. There were seven schools in total and the girls showed excellent communication and team-work on their way to a third place finish overall. Well done girls!

Football Results

Both of our teams were playing in a league fixture tonight against Ryhope Juniors. The A-Team took an early lead but Ryhope quickly levelled the score and scored another to make the score 2-1 to them. In the second half, we didn’t give up and kept at them. 12 word stories

Year 6 enjoyed writing some 12 word stories based on the animation, Alma. To help create the spooky atmosphere we used torches, a darkened room and thought about how we would read the story aloud.

COP26

COP26 Since returning to school in September, our year six children have been looking at the effects of global warming. We took part in a virtual conference with other schools both in the UK and overseas. As part of this, our children (and staff) all made a pledge to show what they are willing to do combat climate change.
