This week in science club our scientists were learning about floating and sinking. We were exploring the properties of materials needed to make an object float or sink.
First we explored objects to see if they floated or not. To make it a fair test, we did this 3 times.
Pine cones – float
Stones – sink
Conkers – this divided our opinions as 3 out of the 4 conkers sank to the bottom of the bucket – 1 did not!
Then it was time to investigate floating and sinking ourselves. We made our own boats from sliced banana (with the skin on) a match stick and cardboard for the sail.
