Year 6 spent a morning in Church with Deacon Peter taking part in an exposition. As we are in the Year of the Eucharist and leading up to the feast of Corpus Christi it seemed like a good way to reflect more closely on the significance of the Eucharist. The Y5 and Y6 girls cricket competition took place at Castle Eden Cricket Club yesterday. The girls worked brilliantly as a team and showed excellent sporting values. After winning lots of their matches, the team made it to the final and came second overall. We are very proud of their achievement.

Year 6 are really enjoying learning about medicine through the ages. Today we looked at the role of plague doctors and why they dressed in such peculiar outfits. Kane came dressed for the part! Very practical although slightly alarming!

This morning we all went to church to crown Mary. We have been learning that May is the month of Mary. Our First Holy Communion children have been leading the rosary at parish mass each Saturday afternoon and today they led us in a decade of the Rosary before we crowned Mary. Year 6 had great fun today learning about prehistoric medicine and the role of medicine men in tribes. We foraged for our own ingredients to make remedies to treat our patients. Our year 6 children had a special visit from their buddies last week during their SATs and they gave them a good luck card and Mrs Groark gave a lovely speech about how she has watched Y6 grow over the years.

Well done to our Y6 children who attended the basketball tournament today. They played brilliantly, worked very well as a team and demonstrated excellent sporting values. They finished in 3rd place so we are very proud of them.
