Children’s Mental Health Week

Last week was Children’s Mental Health Week. At St. Cuthbert’s, we feel it is very important to raise awareness and promote positive mental health.

This year, the theme of the week is “Growing Together” and each class planted some cress seeds and talked about what we need to help us to grow physically and emotionally. Classes will now look after the seeds and watch them grow.

There were a range of activities and tasks going on all week. We designed our own desert islands – the challenge was to make it personal to us, it had to feature parts of our personalities. The children really enjoyed this activity and allowed them to explore themselves in a creative way.

We also thought about who can support us and help s to grow. We designed hot air balloons and wrote the names of the people we can talk to and who help us to grow around the outside.

We looked at how we had grown in the last year, physically and emotionally, and we set ourselves new goals and thought about how we wanted to grow in the next year.

We are working together to support and improve our own and other people’s mental health. If you would like more information about organisations that can help or some useful activities and information, check out the Mental Health and Well-Being section on our school website.
