Tuesday 9th June

Hello year 6. Hope you are all doing ok today

For maths we are going to continue with algebra, looking at how we form expressions (this is what we call the algebra calculations)

Try both activities and see how you get on. If you enjoyed this and would like some extra practice, maths whizz year 6 and year 7 have similar activities on.

For English I would like you to revise punctuating direct and indirect speech. Watch the videos and complete the activities. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zmy8qnb
Who can tell me the difference between direct and indirect speech?

Like yesterday, I would like you to complete one reading plus comprehension task, one vocabulary task and one writing task. Within this writing task I would like to see you using your knowledge of direct or indirect speech. If you are struggling to incorporate indirect or direct speech into one of your reading plus writing tasks, you could use the character you created last week and introduce a new character and generate a conversation between them using direct speech. A good example of indirect speech is often seen in newspaper articles. Could you create a newspaper article and include some indirect speech? The newspaper article could be about anything you like, actual news, fake news, it could include your character from last week or have references to the settings you created. Use BBC Bitesize to revise how to set out a newspaper article. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/znjnv82

Following on from yesterday’s news of the week, I would like you to explore the ‘digital revolution.’
Watch the video to learn about the digital revolution It will give you an understanding of the digital revolution and how it has impacted on everybody’s life over the past 50 years.
As you are watching consider why and how the digital revolution happened, what life was like before the digital revolution, and wonders what life will be like in another 50 years.
Think about the impact the digital revolution has had on young lives in terms of threats like online bullying. We know from my constant nagging that it has such an impact on young lives, both positive and negative.

Answer:
• What is the digital revolution?
• How has the digital revolution changed lives?
• How would life be different without the digital revolution

Finally, I am curious ….
If you could only have one piece of digital technology what would it be and why?

Which piece of digital technology do you think you could live without?

Finally, remember it is sports week, complete the Tuesday challenge which focusing on throwing. Remember to send me your picture of video. Goooooooo St.Cuthbert’s!!!!!

Have a good day year 6! Stay safe!
