We had such a fabulous day at the Locomotion museum. We learnt all about George Stephenson’s life and his inventions. We saw his Locomotion and acted out the first steam train journey from Shildon to Stockton. We also looked inside a train engine.

On Friday, Year 6 were treated to a visit from local author, Adam Bushnell. We had a go at describing a rainforest and using some ambitious vocabulary. This afternoon, Year 5 have been doing a scientific experiment to find out which materials made good thermal insulators. We tried three different materials and checked the temperature of the water after 3, 6 and 9 minutes. We really enjoyed learning how to read the thermometers and predicting which material would keep the water the warmest.

Last week year 6 enjoyed their session learning some First Aid. They learnt about hazards in the home, common issues like bruises and nose bleeds as well as learning how to give CPR and what to do in the event of choking using Flat Stan.
