It’s Friday! Today in Maths is fun, Year 2 have been practising and consolidating their number bonds. We had lots of fun trying lots of different activities.  

We had great fun today using lots of manipulatives sequencing and then representing our numbers to 20.

We have been learning all about Shabbat this week. We have learnt about how Jewish people celebrate Shabbat and enjoyed tasting some of the special challah bread. We have also wrote our own Shabbat blessings.  

This week’s star reader in Year 2 is Freddie. Well done Freddie, you have tried super hard this week in our guided reading in phonics and have done so much reading at home. Keep up the hard work. we are so proud of you!  

Year 6 have enjoyed a morning revising their short multiplication method by using a dice to roll their own calculations. They found this was a good way of finding out which multiplication facts they are confident with and which ones they need to keep practising.  

Today Year 3 have been drawing feathers with charcoal. We have already used charcoal to give soft and strong lines and using a lighter charcoal or rubber to give light and dark tones. This week in art we have been learning about pointillism and have looked at the work of Georges Seurat. We had a go at creating our very own fruit pictures using the pointillism technique. I think Seurat himself would be very impressed!

We had a fun maths lesson today all about 2d shapes. We played bingo, dominoes, made shapes with the peg boards, had a feely bag and lots of other activities too. We had lots of fun whilst consolidating our 2d shapes.  

Year 6 are enjoying learning about Frida Kahlo and have worked well using different mediums to recreate some of her famous self portraits. We will soon be moving onto exploring portraits in more detail and eventually  we should be able to recreate a full portrait of Frida as well as ourselves once we have practised working on our proportions. This term in DT we are looking at structures at the park. We will be designing and making a mini structure. Today we enjoyed using a range of construction materials to make slides, sea-saws, swings, zip wires and roundabouts. `We enjoyed working together and sharing our ideas. Next week we will be looking at different ways to join different materials.
