We had a great time in Computer Club learning how to program Micro:Bits. We were able to make them display pictures, play music that we had composed and show messages that we had written. We had a lot of fun getting them to activate by shaking them or by pressing buttons.

Yesterday, children from KS1 and Ks2 represented the school in a swimming gala held at Peterlee Leisure Centre. 4 children from Yr 2 took part in 8 events which included things such as: woggle relay, egg and spoon race and a treasure hunt. This morning, some children from KS2 got involved in a taster, soft archery session. The session allowed the children to try something new whilst refining their accuracy skills to score points by hitting the target. The morning was a huge success and many points were scored. A huge thank you to Jess from ESSP for a wonderful morning!!

Today, Year 6 watched the Great Athlete Event launch video, finding out that Lucy Turner will be running their sponsored event on Friday 21st February. Year 3 have been enjoying their violin lessons recently as they have now moved on to using the bow. They have had a wonderful time playing new songs and learning new skills.

As part of our Evolution and Inheritance science topic, Y6 conducted an experiment based on Charles Darwin’s theory of why different finches have different shaped beaks. Today Year 2 have taken part in a RSPB bird watch following this week’s picture news. We ticked off what we saw. We saw lots of pigeons, blackbirds and seagulls.

Birdwatch is an annual event which gives people the chance to count birds that visit our gardens. After our school assembly we were set a challenge of finding out how many different birds we could find in our school grounds. We got very excited to find crows, magpies, wood pigeons, blackbirds, seagulls and a pied – wag tail !
