Fencing After School Club

Some children in Y5 and Y6 enjoyed their first experience of fencing yesterday. The qualified coach showed them a range of skills and they were able to try them out while wearing the protective clothing. They learnt the names of the swords and even had a try of using them. Y6 writing workshop with Adam Bushnell

Adam Bushnell visited year 6 to help write a descriptive piece about the Blitz in WW2. Along with rare footage of London, he brought along some exciting artefacts including a Tommy Gun, gas masks for children and babies and some replica smells of the time. The quality of the descriptions were fantastic given the short time frame to write.

Swimming Gala

Today, some of our Year 5 and 6 children represented our school in the Swimming Gala hosted by Easington Sports Partnership at Peterlee Leisure Centre. We had a fantastic morning competing in races using different swimming strokes. We won some of the heats and came 5th overall. Mini Vinnie’s Advent Appeal

As you may have seen recently, many refugees have been uprooted and relocated from Afghanistan to the North East of England. Year 6 enjoyed writing some 12 word stories based on the animation, Alma. To help create the spooky atmosphere we used torches, a darkened room and thought about how we would read the story aloud.

COP26

COP26 Since returning to school in September, our year six children have been looking at the effects of global warming. We took part in a virtual conference with other schools both in the UK and overseas.
