Some children in Y5 and Y6 enjoyed their first experience of fencing yesterday. The qualified coach showed them a range of skills and they were able to try them out while wearing the protective clothing. They learnt the names of the swords and even had a try of using them. We had a lovely day in school yesterday celebrating World Book Day. We came dressed as a word this year and it was lovely to see everyone in their fabulous and well thought out costumes. Yesterday was Ash Wednesday and we had a visit from Fr. Marc and Deacon Peter. They blessed us with ashes on our forehead in the shape of a cross. As homework, Y4 were asked to complete a project about The Romans. They could present this in any way they wanted and they did not disappoint! We had models, swords, shields, posters, information booklets and even a Colosseum! The children presented their projects to the class then enjoyed exploring and discovering each other’s work.

Adam Bushnell visited year 6 to help write a descriptive piece about the Blitz in WW2. Along with rare footage of London, he brought along some exciting artefacts including a Tommy Gun, gas masks for children and babies and some replica smells of the time. The quality of the descriptions were fantastic given the short time frame to write.
