Little Library Club was lots of fun yesterday. We read a story about slimy slime creatures and thought about some slimy things that we might see at home. As a treat, our wonderful kitchen staff cooked up a storm to celebrate Chinese New Year. The children enjoyed some traditional Chinese dishes and a delicious choice of desserts. There were lots of big smiles and clean plates!

To start off our instruction writing unit, we have spent some time today reading and following a set of instructions to make a paper plate fish. We had a lovely, fun English lesson.  

We have began our new Maths topic of multiplication and division. We began with a practical lesson of recapping equal groups. We had a lovely time using lots of manipulatives to practise.

Today, some of our Y5 and Y6 pupils went to a Boccia competition. Both teams did extremely well and had a fabulous time. Well done on representing the school brilliantly.

On Wednesday we had a visit from Seaham’s Deputy Mayor Sue Morrison. The children asked lots of questions (from what inspired you to become a Mayor? to what is your favourite football club?). The children all now have a better understanding of the Mayor’s role in Seaham.

The children in Year 1 worked in groups to play ‘Material Snap’. They looked around the room for something that is made from the material card they picked. The children then created their own song all about materials to the tune Fere Jacques.

This week the children have made their own Owls using paper plates and using their cutting skills. Once they had made their big owl, they were set the challenge to make a baby owl. Well done everyone!

Today we started our new science topic Rocks and Fossils. Our first lesson was ‘The Hard Rock Challenge’.
