Monday 4th May

Good morning year 1, I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

We are approaching a very important celebration this week and the work we will be doing will be in preparation for this special day known as VE day.

English

For our English today I would like you to make your very own fact file about VE day. Do some research with your adult and include information that answers the following questions.

What is VE day?

Why is it important to remember?

When is it?

What do people wear?

How did people celebrate VE day?

The Royal British Legion website might help you find out more

For maths today we will be revisiting our number bonds to 10 and 20. Remember to use your fingers to help you with your number bonds to ten. Follow the link below, watch the video and then complete the activity.

Design and Technology

With the help of your adults have a try at making your very own spitfire aeroplane. The spitfire was an aeroplane used by the Royal Air Force throughout World War 2. You will need a sheet of paper and some scissors to complete it. After you have made it take it outside for a test flight and measure how many steps it flew. Follow the links below for video and written instructions.
