It is always lovely to have buddy time but this one was special being able to exchange christmas cards we had made and do some christmas craft.

We were all so proud of our Reception Class today. Despite all of the many illnesses they managed to all be in school today to perform their Nativity play for their grown ups in church. They spoke with confidence and sang and danced with lots of enthusiasm. Well done Reception Class.

Thank you to Jan, Clare and Maureen who made and served us a very tasty dinner today. It was a special dinner because it was our very first Christmas dinner in school.  

Reception Class really enjoyed their Santa dash today. A special big thank you to Mr Candy Cane, Miss Elf and your helpers for making it so much fun.    

We have been looking at the story of ,”The Three Pigs”. We looked carefully at the materials they used to make their houses, straw, sticks and bricks and discussed their properties. We then chose what to use to make our own house for the pig. Some of us used sticks and some used bricks(lego). Mrs groark brought in her wolf …

In our last story session Mrs Groark read us a story called, “The Gift of Christmas ” by Gaby Hansen. The woodland creatures were looking for Christmas decorations to put on their tree. We the made our own decoration. Some of us even turned them into sparkly crowns.

As part of our RE topic we have been talking about Baptism. We have been looking at photographs of our own special day and noticing what all of the photographs had in common. This week in story club our work was based on the story, “Owl Babies” by Martin Waddell. After listening to the story the children tried to make their own set of owl babies by folding and decorating paper plates and circles of different sizes.

Reception Class enjoyed their first after school story club. The story we were looking at this week was Elmer. We watched an Elmer story and were then set the task of making our own Elmer with a new coat. Everyone worked so well designing a new coat for Elmer.Lots of interesting Elmers went home.

On Thursday, KS1 children enjoyed a jam packed afternoon of dancing with Sophie from the Easington School Sports Partnership. The children were given opportunities to take part in a wide range of dance styles along with using a variety of dance props. Glow sticks and disco lights added to the party atmosphere.

Some pumpkins were delivered to our class. We had lots of fun working in teams, designing a face for our pumpkin and then carving out the flesh and seeds. We tried to make the same face as our  pumpkin.

Reception had such a lovely afternoon when Sophie a dance teacher came to work with us. We used glow sticks, ribbons and pom poms to dance with. We also used  the parachute to help us to listen and follow instructions. Thank you Sophie we had a super dancing time.

As a school on Tuesday 18th,  we took part in the “million children pray the rosary” campaign for peace and unity in the world. Deacon Peter visited Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and explained what the rosary was and why we pray it. Then together they recited the Hail Mary, Our Father and Glory Be together. At 11am Year …

In our Judaism topic this week we were learning about the Jewish Festival of Sukkot. During Sukkot, Jewish people remember when God freed them from slavery in Egypt. After they left Egypt, the Jewish people wandered in the desert for forty years, trying to find a place to settle. Along the way, they built temporary homes out of dry palms …

Our Year 6 buddies have really helped our Reception Class to settle into their new school. They have looked after us at playtimes and produced a lovely assembly for our grown ups to show them some of the fun things we have to look forward to during our time at St Cuthberts. Thank you buddies you have been great!

We are so proud of our new Reception Class and how they have settled into their new school so well. Over their first few weeks they have been very busy. They have really enjoyed their indoor and outdoor classrooms and have made so many new friends.

House Point Winners – George House Group! Well done to George House Group who earned the most points overall for their amazing behaviour around school this half term. As it was such a hot day on Tuesday, we decided to have some fun in the shade and cool down!
