On Friday afternoon, Year 5 were given the opportunity to take part in crack the code, an escape room style session, where they needed to work as a team to earn pieces of a puzzle to reveal the code which unlocked the box. Tonight, the reception children had a wonderful time with the yr6 play leaders taking part in a carousel of activities. They practised throwing and catching, football agility skills and team building skills. Well done everyone!

On Friday, 4 year 5 children participated in a tennis competition at East Durham College. The children had some tough competition but showcased their tennis skills wonderfully and bagged themselves gold. Huge well done year 5 and thank you to ESSP for hosting a fantastic competition.

Yesterday, Year 5 took to foot to follow the blue plaque trail around Seaham. They developed a further understanding of what Seaham used to be like before it became a town. We certainly had the weather for the first session of playground games! The reception children had a wonderful time with Miss Scarr and 4 year 6 sports leaders. They experienced 4 different games which worked on balance, aim, coordination and agility. Well done!

This week, children from year 3-6 performed at the Glebe Centre, showcasing the dances they worked incredibly hard to perfect. Well done to the children who received certificates today. Awards were given for hard work, reading, music and being a good role model. A special mention goes to our Year 4 children who have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for them to receive their first Holy Communion.

Our St. Cuthbert’s B-Team gave their best efforts at this year’s Turns Family Cup final, finishing as proud runners-up after their final against St. Mary’s. The team showed amazing spirit and determination throughout the competition. This afternoon, 8 children from yr2-5 took part in a Well-being Festival at the Glebe Centre. They rotated around 4 different activities, exploring ways that can help to improve our mental health and well-being. First, the children started with team building exercises.
