Summer After School Clubs Loading…

Our Mayor, Councillor Sue Morris came to our school today for a special visit. Councillor Morris talked to all of our children about the upcoming Queen’s Jubilee and presented all of our children with a special medal in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It was lovely to see her.

Jubilee Ready! We have been getting ourselves ready for our Jubilee celebrations after half term with some art to make our new entrance feel patriotic and party-ready! Thank you to all our classes for your beautiful portraits and drawings.

On Thursday 19th May our Dance Club took part in the Sports Partnership Dance Showcase at Blackhall Community Centre where selected schools had been chosen to showcase their dances. Y4 were given the opportunity to attend a tennis festival. Four children took part in a competition against other schools playing actual tennis matches. Ten children had a go at some skills to try to beat their own scores as they challenged themselves. Last week, our A and B football teams played their last league matches for this season. We came up against two very strong teams from St. Mary Magdalene Primary School and the heat made if even more difficult to play. Our B Team played first. Last Thursday was Outdoor Classroom day and our children used our fantastic school grounds to enjoy some outdoor learning. Some of the activities that took place were scavenger hunts, potion making, orienteering, mini-beast hunts, active games and making symmetrical patterns. Luckily, the weather was kind to us and it was a great day for everyone involved.

Our year 6 children had a special visit from their buddies last week during their SATs and they gave them a good luck card and Mrs Groark gave a lovely speech about how she has watched Y6 grow over the years.

Year 6 have fun in Science today creating a life-sized circulatory system. Thank you to Jude, Jack E, Rosa and Jacob for being our human templates.

St. Cuthbert’s girls football team played in their first tournament tonight. They came top in their group stage after winning all of their games, scoring 11 goals and keeping a clean sheet. Last week, Y4 took part in a combat survival adventure day provided by Team Challenge Adventures. They had to work in teams to solve problems and win soldiers for their armies to help rescue The General. During our outdoor adventure lesson in PE, we went outside to use equipment and map key to create a Funny Face using information on our map.

Today Year 1 have been learning about what countries are in the United Kingdom. They made their own map of the UK with play-dough and labelled it with the countries in it. They also labelled the capital cities in each country.

Tuesday was the last session of Library Club for our Y2 children. We read the story of The Gingerbread Man and the children enjoyed joining in with some of the parts and then re-telling it to their friends. They decorated their very own Gingerbread Man but their favourite part was eating them at the end of the story.
