For our final week of club, year 1 and 2 watched the story of The Very Last Leaf followed by the story of Stick Man. Together, sticks and leaves make trees so they started by drawing around their hand and arm to create a tree trunk. After, they used sponges to create autumnal leaves.

Congratulations to our latest Stars Of The Week. There have been lots of great reasons to celebrate our gifts and talents this week. A huge well done to anyone who earned House Group Points this week too.

Today, we had a visit from Graham from Sunderland Tennis Centre. Y6 had lots of fun learning how to control the ball on their racket and trying out some skills. Some of the tricks we had a go at were harder than they looked but we enjoyed the challenge.  

What a busy night we had! Stories, songs and lots of crafts. Year 1/2 listened to Julia Donaldson’s story The Scarecrows’ Wedding then went off to create their very own to take home. Each scarecrow had their own unique hat and name. The finished off the session with signing and dancing to ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’

As part of World Animal Day, Year 5 took part in a workshop with Jess from Seaham Vets. The children engaged in a range of hands on activities such as applying bandages, trying on gowns and looking at animals skulls. Today we had visitors from a vets in Seaham in school. We talked about the role of a vet and took part in different activities. We had lots of fun and asked lots of questions.

Today, 35 children from years 1-6 attended cross country at EDC. The children were amazing ambassadors of St Cuthberts, showing excellent sportsmanship towards each other and runners from other schools. We are incredibly proud of the resilience shown today from all runners. Well done!
