Wednesday 20th May

Hi everyone. For Wednesday’s maths we are going to move on to adding fractions. Today we will be sticking with fractions that have the same denominator. So imagine Mr Graham ate 3/8 of a cake and I ate 2/8 of a cake. Think about how much we would have eaten altogether. I’ve included a little video to show you how to visualise this and how to remember the rules for adding fractions, especially when the answer ends up greater than 1.

In English, let’s watch the rest of the video today and we are going to have a think about how the man in the video feels and what he notices. Fill in the grid to help you start to think about this.

For science we are going to learn about life cycles and begin with mammals. We are mammals and just like other mammals, the life cycle of humans begins when we grow as embryos inside our mothers. The animations and presentation will give you some more information then there are three activities for you to choose from. You can create a life cycle wheel for a kangaroo (a special type of mammal called a marsupial); you can write about the life cycle of a dog or you could choose your own mammal. The important words to include are: embryo, gestation, young, adult.
