Tasty Tuesday

Well done for the super work you did yesterday. I know lots of you enjoy reading, “The Hungry Caterpillar.” Today we are going to think about the healthy things the caterpillar ate. He ate lots of fruit so one of your challenges is to make a fruit kebab. You might decide to try and make one that looks like a caterpillar or follow a pattern to make one. If you don’t have any skewers to put your fruit on you could put your fruit in a pattern on a plate. You can make some caterpillars by using finger prints or cutting out circles. I’ve included a maths challenge sheet to see if you can change what your caterpillars look like by following the instructions to add more or double the length. I know lots of you found some caterpillars yesterday. I would like you to think about where you found them. It might have been on a bush or a tree. You all have super imaginations so you might want to create an imaginary tree or bush that the caterpillar would love to live in.

Don’t forget to keep active. I know lots of you are playing sports in your garden or going out for walks. Joe Wicks is still on every morning and Supermovers is on www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers. If you want to do a different type of exercise, The Very Hungry Caterpillar | A Cosmic Kids Yoga … – YouTube is also good fun.

Enjoy your day, keep active, have fun. Xxx

Tuesday’s tasks

Phonics

Watch YouTube for your daily phonics work. Today the sounds are:

Set 1 – nk
 Set 2 – ar
 Set 3 – ire

Play a phonics caterpillar game. Write some of the sounds or words your child has been learning on circles. Place them face down and ask your child to pick them up in turn. If they can say the sound/word correctly they can keep it to make their caterpillar. How long can they make their caterpillar?

Literacy Think about the things the caterpillar ate each day. Lots of it was fruit. Could you design and make a fruit kebab? Write down a list of the fruits you might need.

Maths Go to Whiterose maths Summer Term Week 3 Day 2 – (w/c 4th May). Today we are going to use finger prints to make caterpillars. You don’t need a printer for this task but I’ve included a sheet with some ideas for you to use to set challenges eg Make a caterpillar with three finger prints now make one that is double the size. How many finger prints long will it be?

When you make your fruit kebab you could make a repeated pattern e.g. green grape, blueberry

Other areas of learning Yesterday you were looking for caterpillars. I want you to think about some of the trees you might have seen. Think of the shape of the leaves. Can you make a tree that you think your caterpillar might like to live on? You could copy off a tree you saw or make up an imaginary one.
