St. Cuthbert’s A-Team Shine at 7-a-Side Tournament

St. Cuthbert’s A-Team put in a fantastic performance last night at the 7-a-side football tournament hosted by Ribbon Academy, finishing as runners-up in a tightly contested competition.

The tournament featured six strong teams, and our players rose to the challenge with energy, teamwork, and determination. St. Cuthbert’s played four matches, winning three and narrowly losing one — the final game that decided the outcome of the tournament.

Match Highlights:

  • Luke and Vinnie were in fine form, scoring some outstanding goals throughout the tournament.

  • Ethan made a number of crucial saves that kept us in the running.

  • Will led the defence with a calm, composed presence at the back, helping to maintain our solid defensive record.

Going into the final game, all teams were level on points and goal difference. In a dramatic finish against St. Mary’s, the match remained goalless until the final seconds. Unfortunately, a late goal — just three seconds before the final whistle — saw St. Cuthbert’s fall to their only defeat of the night.

Despite the ending, the entire team played brilliantly and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience. It was a performance to be proud of, and every player contributed to a very strong tournament run.

Well done, St. Cuthbert’s A-Team — a brilliant effort and a tournament to remember! ⚽
