Today, the children headed out onto the moors to follow the lead mining trail of Grinton. They learnt what is was like to be a lead miner and started digging to find their own Galena. From the top, the views were amazing and by the end we were lucky enough to finish our walk in the sunshine.
Along the way, the children made and raced their own boats down the stream before walking up the smelt mine chimney.
Year 5 have walked around 5 miles today and ready for their tea. We are all showered and enjoying some free time playing in the sun.
