Friday 5th June

Hello Year 6! Happy Friday 🙂

For today’s maths I’d like you to complete the maths challenges on bbc bitesize https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zjhhjsg
It is a great chance to show off your maths skills! Remember to do your working out.

For English I would like you to complete a reading plus comprehension task, vocabularly task and one writing task.
The writing tasks are based on something you have read and you can choose either fiction or non-fiction. The writing tasks should be extended pieces of writing and contain good detail, ambitious vocabulary, a range of punctuation and paragraphs. Submit it once you are complete. I look forward to reading them.
Finally, complete any outstanding SPAG.com tasks. I would like them completed before we return back to school on the 15th.

Then I would like you to try the BBC Bitesize design skills task. It is time to get creative again if this is possible. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zdp9d6f
I found this really interesting and enjoyed trying to draw isometric drawings.
Then try the activity. This involves choosing a product from your house and thinking carefully about its design as you produce it using each of the design skills mentioned.

You will need a pencil, paper, ruler, (protractor and, if building a model, some materials from around the house) and glue or tape.

1. Start with a freehand sketch, by hand without measurements

2. Add annotation to this of materials and parts

3. Build this out into a formal drawing, using a ruler and measurements

4. You can then try and draw this as a single-point perspective, two point perspective and/or isometric drawing – remember the 30 degree rule for isometric. Use the guidance from the videos to help you do this.

5. If you would like to go even further, you can then use these drawings to build a model

Finally, I am still waiting for some of this week’s rights respecting tasks to be submitted I only have a few entries this week. Please e-mail any late pieces. Also I have no entries for the Easington Sports Partnership PE challenge I set. Give it a go before 11am tomorrow and I will submit your times to Mrs Parlett.

To end your day of learning, since it is Friday, do something FUN! What do you enjoy doing? Could be a film, a board game with the family, reading, games consoles…

Have a good weekend and stay safe. Remember …#bekind
