On Friday, Year 2 enjoyed a Peter Rabbit Picnic as part of our DT topic. We tried four different types of sandwiches made with different types of bread and thought about the appearance, smell, flavour and texture. As part of our Beginnings RE topic, we listened to Psalm 19: 1-5 We enjoyed hearing about how the sun rises high in the sky to give us light and warmth. We are full of joy as each new day begins and we created a painting to illustrate the Psalm.

On Monday, Year 2 enjoyed the colour run. We were all splattered in a rainbow of colours and had an amazing time. Thank you to the Easington School Sports Partnership for providing this fabulous event.  

This morning, Year 2 shared a Celebration of the Word about St Peter and St Paul with their parents. They all did an amazing job and we were so impressed. Year 2 Singing Club have been singing songs from the musicals. This week, we did a rendition of  Castle In The Clouds from Les Miserables.

This half term, Year 2 have been learning about sculptures. We have created pipe cleaner humans, clay sculptures and cardboard box monsters. We have been learning how to design and build our creations using a range of tools and skills.

For our DT project this half term, Year 2 have been making a patchwork quilt. We used a desert theme to inspire us with our designs. Today Year 2 have taken part in a RSPB bird watch following this week’s picture news. We ticked off what we saw. We saw lots of pigeons, blackbirds and seagulls.

We have really enjoyed the end of year Christmas celebrations. We have taken part in lots of different activities and are ready for a nice rest before Christmas.

Year 2 really enjoyed taking part in the Santa Dash yesterday. Thank you to the adults who made it such a fun experience.

November 2024

Today Year 2 visited the Cenotaph. We placed our poppy pebbles around the Cenotaph, had a two minute silence and had some quiet time to reflect on all the learning we have been doing about World War 1.

We have had lots of fun today dancing to different songs. Thank you Sophie for a great session.

Today we had visitors from a vets in Seaham in school. We talked about the role of a vet and took part in different activities. We had lots of fun and asked lots of questions.

Year 2 had a lovely time at the colour run. Thank you to the sports partnership for a lovely afternoon.

During our last week in Year 2 we have had so much fun. We had Hoopstars come in and teaching us trick using a hula hoop. We also had a lot of fun on our Summer Splash run.

Our Year 1 and 2 Dance Club have been working hard this term to learn a routine to Barbie Dreams. They have had so much fun learning different dance moves and the boys enjoying adding some rock and roll into the routine.
