Christmas Activities in Year 1

We had a great last week at school. We played games and danced at our Christmas party, had a lovely Christmas dinner, met Santa, watched a show and watched a movie in our pyjamas, with a hot chocolate. We hope you all have a lovely Christmas Year 1.

Year 1 Santa Dash

We had lots of fun today. We threw snowballs, zig-zagged in and out of Santa hats, used a selfie frame and matched pairs. The best part was being sprayed by the snow machine.

Year 1 History Trip

We have had a great afternoon visiting Church Street and eating ice cream. We had a sketch map of Church Street and mapped out the things that we could see. We will then be comparing this to the 1950s high street.

Year 1 Gymnastics

We are having lots of fun in gymnastics this half term. We have been learning how to do forward rolls, teddy bear rolls, back support and balances. We are remembering to keep our toes pointed and to hold our positions. Well done Year 1 you have been trying really hard.

Senses Year 1

In Year 1, we have been learning all about the human body. We have been exploring our five different senses. We had a carousel of activities, each one using a different sense. Year 1’s Liturgical Prayer looked at important words from God’s Promise. In God’s Promise, it says that we should share what we have especially with people who have little or nothing. We decided to donate toys and clothes to charity as part of our mission. We have donated all of our things to Barnardos in Seaham. Well done Year 1! …

The Tiger Who Came to Tea

Year 1 really enjoyed their trip to the Billingham Forum Theatre to watch The Tiger Who Came to Tea. We had lots of fun singing along, joining in with the characters and watching the Tiger be silly on stage. A big thank you to the grown ups who came along and helped.

Making Jam Sandwiches

In Year One, we have been reading The Tiger Who Came to Tea. We have looked at the key features of instruction writing and followed a set of instructions. We made delicious jam sandwiches using instructions and ate these outside in the sun. Tomorrow, we will be writing our very own instructions of how we made our sandwiches.
