Year 5 Adam Bushnell Visit

Local author, Adam Bushnell visited us today to help us plan a piece of writing about a local myth.

First, we talked about some local myths that Adam has written about and then designed a hideous monster to be the villain of our myth. We had lots of fun labelling the different parts that made our creatures troublesome to the locals.

Next, we thought about a hero that could come and battle the monster. Adam had brought some hero accessories and we had a fantastic time trying them on. We were able to get lots of inspiration for what our hero would look like.

After that, we thought about an animal that could be the sidekick of our hero. We thought about the features the animals had and shared ideas of how they could help the hero defeat the mythical creature.

Finally, we planned how the hero would defeat the monster. We had some great ideas and shared them as a class. Everyone was telling their story and we had great fun listening to how the hero would be victorious.

As an added bit of fun, Adam brought his pet tortoise, Jet, to see us. He enjoyed wandering around the class room and we all got to hold and stroke him.

Thanks for a wonderful writing session, Adam.
