First Matches of the Season

Report by Ryan D.

On the 16th September 2016 St.Cuthbert’s played a football match against Ropery Walk. This is how it went:

A team

The game started and straight away Taylor went past three of their defenders and put it right into the top corner – 1-0! It took a while but Jack took a corner and put it in to make it 2-0. Ropery Walk made a few shots on target but our keeper, Michael K, made some terrific saves!

2nd Half

After half time, the ball came across the box and William took the touch – he lay it down to Ryan who put it in the back of the net – 3-0! Next it came to Jack who played a defence- splitting pass across the box to set Ryan up, slotting it home to make it 4-0. For the fifth goal Jack passed to Ryan then to Taylor through to Will who put it in the bottom corner – 5-0! Seconds off the game ending Ryan played to Will and the keeper came off of his line but Will was there a split second quicker than the keeper to put it in the back of the net – 6-0! Finally the game finished and it was St. Cuthbert’s 6-0 Ropery Walk.

B team

Aaron scored a brilliant goal to put us in front, 1-0. Three minutes later, it was really unlucky for Ropery because the cross came into the box and it bounced off their player and went in for an own goal making the score 2-0.

2nd Half

Ropery made an attack but Ronnie managed to keep a clean sheet. A corner came into the box, bounced out and Sam was there to bang it home. Jake scored a cracking goal after being set up beautifully by his team mates to make it 4-0. At the final whistle, the score was St. Cuthbert’s 4-0 Ropery Walk.

All credit to Ropery Walk who didn’t give up and kept trying to score. Well played lads!
