The school council is a group of pupils elected by their fellow pupils to represent their opinions and raise issues with their headteacher and staff in the school. The school council can also take forward projects on behalf of the pupils, and be involved in planning and things like fundraising events and interviewing new staff.
Issues have been raised about the energy used in our school, which has substantially increased since last year. A lady from Oases (Outdoor and Sustainability Education Specialists) came to talk to Mrs Prest and Mrs Brettwood to see if we could find out where the extra energy was being used. She then worked with the school council to give them tips on how they can help. The children are now going to classrooms as ‘Energy Inspectors’ to make sure that all electrical equipment is turned off when not in use.
Our school is updating our quality mark award. The basic skills Quality Mark is an award that celebrates and supports continuous improvement in literacy and numeracy. Our head boy and head girl (Lewis and Alicia Y6) were on hand to take the inspector on a learning walk of our school. A selection of the school council were chosen to be interviewed by the inspector.
If you have any great ideas that you would like the School Council to talk about or try to change in school, remember to tell your School Council, use the suggestion boxes or contact us at the top of this page. Thank you for taking the time to read what we have been up too and we hope to see you back here again.
