‘Active Durham Sport & Physical Activity’ award

We are delighted to announce that on Friday night we were presented with an award from County Durham Sport for Primary School Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity as part of their ‘Active Durham Sport & Physical Activity’ awards.

We were nominated for the award by Mrs Hall (our link teacher and adviser from the Sports Partnership we belong to with other local schools) and, after winning the East Durham and Sedgefield area award, we then won the county-wide award.  She has been really impressed with the commitment and improvement that staff and pupils have shown as we try to involve all our young people in sport and encourage them to take part for enjoyment as well as to develop skills, competition and leadership.  We try our best to provide a range of opportunities and clubs within school as well as forging links with local clubs and we work hard to ensure staff are well trained and resourced to deliver quality PE lessons.

A big thank you to all of you who support us by bringing your children to after school clubs, encouraging them to take part in festivals and competitions, helping us with transport and also helping us to make links with our local clubs.  We continually strive to improve and encourage pupils to enjoy sport and physical activity. Don’t forget to check our page on the school website created by our young sports crew for updates on things happening in school as well as our Twitter account which often includes team and event news and photos.  The children really enjoy the feedback and positive comments that visitors to our sites leave.
