Apologies that this hasn’t been updated for a couple of weeks. We have had a very busy start to our term and a very active one as we are helping to lead our Active 30 push at school. This means we all (adults AND pupils) aim to be active in school time for 30 minutes each day. Sometimes it is through PE, sometimes through dance and sometimes through leading skipping with other pupils in school. We are really enjoying the BBC Supermovers website which has lots of dances to times tables and other maths and English things.
Our PE has had a great start with the children working on their strength and performance in gymnastics and their creativity in our Bollywood dance lessons. The boys also enjoyed a breakdance session with The Boyz Project run by The Garage NE this week.
We started off our term by learning about the journey our country made to democracy, how and why adults are able to vote and some of the things people petition government about to make changes. Many of the children mentioned things they had learned about plastic pollution from Blue Planet II so we chose to write to supermarkets and government about that and posted our letters this week. Daniel had already written a letter to Graeme Morris MP as part of his learning log homework and I’m delighted to say that he was so impressed he will be visiting us on Friday – very well done Daniel! I’m sure we will find out some very interesting things about government from him.
We’ve also started our new science topic on Space and the children have really enjoyed drawing the planets and making them look 3D with chalk pastels.
